Relaxation and Expansion of the Mind: Listening to Pink Floyd’s A Momentary Lapse of Reason (1987)

If you have an appreciation for classic rock, the concept album or revolutionary modern artists, you will (or have already) certainly enjoy one of Pink Floyd’s more prominent albums: A Momentary Lapse of Reason. Let me begin by telling you, the reader, that this is not a review of the album’s instrumental synthesis, or its lyrical compositions neither the piece’s relevance to contemporary societies.

The intentions of this article are to help you through tense or stressful periods in your life.

How can Pink Floyd help me relieve stress?

From beginning to end, this is an album that will take you through a mindful journey. Whether you relate to the lyrical contents or not, makes no difference: this is the goal and desire of the concept album. The artist’s intentions are to conceptualize an idea, a motif or theme of importance to any number of diverse audiences. Thought-provoking, emotionally connecting; whilst your ears open and your mind becomes attentive, your previous stresses and tension will surely lift. Think of it as a distraction to your current reality, as you would be distracted with playing video games, pointless conversation or reading.

By listening to A Momentary Lapse of Reason, you will relax, enter the canyons of your mind and experience an alternate reality.

How does ‘A Momentary Lapse of Reason’ expand my mind?

Do you understand the meaning by the lyrics? Can you identify which instruments are playing? How do you feel as the album progresses? As the album is largely instrumental (filled momentum heightening intros, enriching guitar solos and sensational outros), the audience is left with a multitude of unconscious decisions to make.

– Reflection of feelings/thoughts after a song

– Visual imagination of album

– Technical appreciation for sounds/lyrics

(Do you see how you may lose yourself in the concept album?)

From personal understanding, I grew up listening to rock music. My father would regularly sit in the basement and forget the day’s torments with an album experience. Pink Floyd is my favourite artist to listen and zone out (alongside The Who’s Tommy and Quadrophenia). Any time I have listened to these albums, my worries leave me, my mind rests and enjoys a journey only music can provide. Whether its stress from:

– Work, school, relationships

– Mental exhaustion or depression/anxiety

Give yourself a break, life is not meant to be stressful, it is to be enjoyed and appreciated. Slap on some Pink Floyd and conquer your stress.

The Influence of Music in Our Lives

Listening to music works in different areas of the brain.

Everybody loves Music

I’m a huge fan of music and use it a lot while working, but I had no idea at all about how it really affects our daily lives. Music is such a big part of our lives, I thought it would be a great idea to have a look at some of the ways how Music affects our lives.

Music heals

  1. Pain relief Music helps to reduce both the sensation/distress of both chronic and postoperative ache.
  2.  Reducing blood pressure. According to research announced at the American Society of Hypertension meeting in N.O., just listening to half an hour of Celtic, classical and/or raga music every day may somehow reduce HBP(high blood pressure).
  3. Speeds Post-Stroke Recovery A regular piece of anyone’s favorite pop tune, classical song or a little bit of jazz can improve recovery from weakening strokes, according to the most recent research.
  4. Chronic headaches & migraine “antidote”. Music can help migraine/headache sufferers decrease the intensity of the headaches

Music as therapy

What is Music Therapy?

Music Therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program.

Music Therapy has been used for centuries it has been used as a way to recover energy, improve the state of mind(mood), and even help the body alleviate.

Why is music important

Music-making is part of what makes humans human. Every culture has made music and is still making music today. Not only that, every past culture has made music too.

Music gets under your skin. It creates strong feelings. And it creates strong memories. if you don’t believe me check out this video of a baby’s reaction to music.

I bet you if you took the time to think, you’d probably get those memories as to when you were a child when your mom used to sing to you or maybe when you listen to one of those songs you haven’t head in a while and say: “Oh my God!! I remember that song!!” or when you say that’s my jam!!!”.

Music is a language. It is a language for all humans. It is a language that is there when normal language is of little use.

ASMR : Printer Sounds for Calming and Relaxtion

Maybe you do not think that some electronic devices such as printers can also produce ASMR sounds for Calming and Relaxation. What kind of printer will be the question..?? Basically, all types of printer can produce these sounds from Inkjet, laser as well as 3D printer .. Everything depends on your needs

We have done some small research to find an ASMR printer sound and there is plenty to be found and some of the best you can watch below [CP] :

Sounds for Calming & Relax

What is ASMR?

ASMR stands for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response, and it refers to a physical and psychological reaction to stimuli, inducing feelings of calm and a pleasurable tingling sensation. Nicknames for ASMR have included “brain massage,” “head tingle,” and “head orgasm,” which all sound awfully silly to many people, but to a person who experiences these episodes, they are apt descriptions. Other names for the sensation have included “AIHO” (for “Attention-Induced Head Orgasm”) and “AIE” (“Attention Induced Euphoria”).

The term “ASMR” was first coined in February 2010 by the Facebook group Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response Group. The group was created by Jennifer Allen, who now acts as the team organizer for the ASMR Research Team. It has since become the most commonly used term for these episodes.

Not a lot of research currently exists on ASMR, primarily because it is a difficult phenomenon to study. Stimuli can vary tremendously from person to person, and, as previously stated, some people do not experience ASMR at all. It is generally accepted that ASMR episodes typically begin with a tingling sensation in the head that then travels to other parts of the body to varying degrees. It is also important to emphasize that ASMR causes a euphoric kind of sensation, but is induced without the aid of drugs or sexual activity.

It has been suggested that ASMR could potentially provide a drug-free solution for people dealing with stress, anxiety, and insomnia. Again, no research currently exists to support such claims, and conducting such research has its obstacles. However, individuals report that they typically experience increased feelings of relaxation and even sleepiness when ASMR gets triggered. Some would argue that the effects of ASMR are similar to those experienced in meditation.

ASMR Massage at SPA – Enjoy WiFi Wireless Internet While Treatment

WiFi (WiFi) Wireless Internet connections may be coming to the best spas. Have you ever wanted to get away to a secluded place to write that book, do research, or work on a special project?

Now you can get Internet connections at your favorite spas. Some California spas are leading the way, including our own Nurturing Nest.

WiFi means wireless fidelity. It defines a standard so that various manufacturers’ hardware components can talk to each other. There will be more on that below.

Thousands of locations around the country are becoming what are called hotspots. This means that people with properly equipped computers can make a wireless connection to the Internet if they are close enough. Many airports, hotels, coffee shops, and some of the best spas provide the ability to make wireless connections to the Internet through WiFi.

What You Need

You will need a laptop computer with a wireless pc card that is compatible with the hardware at your destination hotspot. (You can also connect bigger computers to wireless networks.) In most cases you won’t have to worry because the hardware at the hotspot will handle two or three of the standards. And your wireless pc card will probably handle two of the standards. The three standards are:

  • 802.11a – the original standard
  • 802.11b – the most common standard
  • 802.11g – the emerging standard

If you travel much and want to be sure you can connect wherever you are, you can cover yourself by getting a pc card that handles all three. One such card is the Netgear WAG511 802.11a/b/g Dual Band Wireless PC Card.

Many of the newer laptops have wireless network capabilities built-in.

Relax and Finish Your Special Project

When you arrive at your best spa, you can begin by relaxing in the healing mineral waters. You can do nothing for a while. When you’re ready you can fire up your laptop computer and connect to the Internet with your WiFi Wireless connection.

This might be the best way to finish that special project.

Here’s a special gift for you

3-Hour ASMR Video – Get Relax and Deep Sleep

A simple search for “ASMR” on YouTube conjures up hundreds of videos intended to trigger these feel-good sensations. It is an ASMR junkie’s paradise, where one can satiate one’s appetite for known triggers or seek out potential new ones. Some of the more popular videos have literally had tens of thousands of views, and yet they feature mundane activities such as drawing, tapping, whispering, and unboxing new items. Some ASMR videos feature whispered descriptions or explanations on how to do things (like, say, play poker), and still, others involve role-playing.

I personally could never get into the role-playing videos (honestly, I find them a tad creepy), but they evidently work for thousands of other folks. Role plays include makeovers, various medical examinations and consultations, massages, and haircuts. A person watching the video can imagine his or herself in the role of a patient or client being tended to. In this way, ASMR responses triggered by close attention can have their fix too, even if it is an artificial, virtual attention they are receiving.

Sometimes the most telling thing that comes out of ASMR YouTube videos are the comments from viewers. Comments such as “This is better than weed” and “I got so many tingles at this i think i broke my ASMR…” express the appreciation for and enjoyment had by viewers. So long as folks are getting their fix, at least we can find comfort in the fact that this is one high that does not pose a [known] threat to our well-beings.

Benefits of Massage – Physical and Emotional

The benefits of a massage are both physical and emotional. Other experts also list mental benefits but I believe that mental and emotional issues are intertwined. For example, when you are experiencing stress, while it may be considered a mental issue by some, it certainly carries an emotional burden and even begins in most instances with the emotions.

A massage is more than just a nice luxury for you to enjoy to help you relax. While the art of massage does provide you with relaxation and stress relief, there are specific benefits of massage that can be obtained when massage is performed on a regular basis, such as weekly or monthly. Obviously, how often you are able to get a professional massage is based on your budget. If finances are an issue, you can also experience the benefits of massage on a basic level with personal massage products.

Some Physical benefits of massage include:

  • Loosening and relaxation of stiff sore muscles
  • Improved balance and posture
  • Reduced headaches
  • Lowered blood pressure (this is beneficial for those with high or borderline blood pressure problems)
  • Boosted immune system (Massage encourages the release of toxins from the body)
  • Improves sleep
  • Reduces muscle spasms
  • Improves the health of the skin
  • Reduces pain by stimulating the endorphin hormones
  • Promotes deeper breathing which is more effective
  • Relaxes the body overall

Some Emotional benefits of massage include:

  • Stress and tension is released as the body is massaged
  • Soothes and calms the emotions (i.e. bad temper)
  • Helps clear the mind for better mental clarity

As you can see, the benefits of massage impact your overall wellness and stress levels when experienced on a regular basis. Combining massage with heat or aromatherapy provides enhances results. Regardless of what area of your being you are focusing on, the benefits of massage will be seen in other areas that you may not have considered.
