The Soothing Power Of Magic White

For me, few subjects are as relaxing to hear discussed as Magic White aka Liquid White aka titanium white oil paint mixed with linseed oil. Magic White was invented by the painter Bill Alexander as an essential part of the wet on wet oil painting technique he created. Most are probably more familiar with Liquid White, which was Bob Ross’s version of the oil medium. I think I associate Magic/Liquid White with relaxation because of Bob Ross… he would always take a second or two per episode to describe that part of the process, and sometimes he would get into lengthier discussions of the medium. However, I didn’t quite realize the soothing power of Magic White until I discovered various youtube videos like this one that are specifically about the oil medium (how to apply it properly, how to make it yourself, etc). I think I’ve seen about all of them at this point, and this one is my favorite… I like the voice of the Certified Alexander Art Instructor who did this video, and there is even a bonus at the end where he shares a cool painting he did after applying the Magic White to canvas earlier in the video. I hope you too will find this discussion/demonstration of Magic White as soothing as I do.
